UGC GUIDE

UGC usage rights: what brands should define

A creator fee and a content license are related but separate commercial questions. UGC Next records the rights agreed for each job.

Organic usage

Permission to post creator content on a brand’s owned social channels or website does not automatically include paid advertising.

Paid-ad rights

If the content will be boosted, whitelisted, run as a paid social ad or used in performance campaigns, record that scope explicitly before the creator starts.

Duration and territory

Define how long the brand may use the content and where. A three-month regional license is materially different from perpetual worldwide rights.

Exclusivity

If the creator cannot work with competing brands for a period, define the category, geography and duration. Exclusivity can increase the creator quote.

Raw footage

Edited deliverables do not automatically include raw clips. Add raw footage to the brief and agreement when the brand needs it.

Practical rule

Write the exact intended use into the agreement rather than relying on assumptions. UGC Next includes usage-right fields in creator briefs and job terms.
